Bodies of Water: Lake Nacogdoches, LaNana Creek, Banita Creek, 50 miles west of the Sabine River, and the Angelina River.
Major Towns: Around Jacksonville, Texas. Also around Henderson, Texas.
Families: He brought 800 families to Texas. He wanted to take out the poor families and bring in rich planter families from Southern United States. He disliked people who were poor and a different race from him.
Best Qualities:Fertile land, close to water, and away from most Indians.
Land for Each Family: If you are married, you shall be given 1 labor of land (177.1 acres) and if you would like to ranch, you will receive one sitio (4428.4 acres). If you are unmarried, you will get 1/4 of that land. Then, if you choose to marry, you will get the full amount of land. *If you are a foreigner and choose to marry a native Mexican, you will get an EXTRA 1/4 share of the given land!
Cost of Land: 11-15 cents per acre.
Requirements: He required the people already there to show proof that they owned this land. If they did not, then they would have to pay Edwards and leave the area.
