Location of Colony: Current day City of Gonzales.
Bodies of Water: Around the Lavaca River, Guadalupe River, and the San Marcos River.
Major Towns: "Old Station" Landing area for people of the colony. East of San Antonio and North of Corpus Christi.
Families: 400 Respectable and Industrious Catholic Families and equally respectable Mexican families. By 1831.
Best Qualities: Had a treaty with the Karankawa, Fertile land, close to water, and away from most Indians.
Land for Each Family: Single men got one fourth sitio of land. A married couple got a full sitio of land. The remaining land was farmland.
Cost of Land: Around 12.5 cents per acre, the standard amount.
Requirements: You must be Catholic. You were either a very respectful American family or a very respectful Mexican family. You had to be hardworking and loyal.
